Vetilea Travaderm is a topical spray to soothe itching in sensitive and allergic skin in localized areas. It can be used in young animals, immunosuppressed animals, chronic patients, and as a complement to pharmacological antipruritic treatments.
It contains Hydroxymethoxyiodobenzyl Glycoamide Pelargonate (HMBG) in an emollient oil solution that helps break the itch-scratch cycle.
Additionally, it helps maintain the skin barrier function and reduce oxidative stress.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The main component of Vetilea Travaderm works through a novel mechanism. It is an antagonist of the TRPV1 receptor (Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1), which helps reduce the neuronal stimulation of itching and interrupt the itch-scratch cycle.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Apply 10 cm from the skin twice a day to the affected area. In case of a bath, apply immediately after bathing and wait at least 48 hours before the next bath. For maintenance, apply twice a week to the normally affected area.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
How does Hydroxymethoxyiodobenzyl Glycoamide Pelargonate (HMBG) work?
HMBG acts as an antagonist of the TRPV1 channel, a non-selective cationic channel of neurons, through which and via various intracellular signaling cascades, the pruritogenic signal is transmitted to the brain, where the scratching reflex occurs. Additionally, the compound exhibits synergistic activities that help maintain the skin barrier function and provide antioxidant action. In in vitro trials in an induced atopy model, this compound prevents the reduction of gene expression involved in the barrier function, such as CDSN, DSC1, FLG, LOR. Furthermore, HMBG reduced oxidative stress induced by H2O2 in human keratinocytes.
Can it be used in combination with other products, such as immunotherapy, oclacitinib, etc.?
Yes, it can be used in combination with pharmacological therapies, diets, and nutritional supplements. It can also complement these treatments to reduce their dosage.
Can the dosage be adjusted?
Yes, the recommended initial dosage is one application every 12 hours. Depending on the evolution of itching and at the veterinarian's discretion, the dosage can be modified—for example, once every 24 hours or alternate applications for maintenance.
Can it be applied to the eyes or mucous membranes?
No, the product should not be applied to the eyes or mucous membranes.
Does the product leave stains?
No, despite being oily, the product is absorbed quickly and does not leave residues, even in dogs with white coats.
Can it be used in young animals?
Yes, it is ideal for use in young animals. Clinical cases show excellent efficacy in young animals.
Is the product safe?
This compound has an excellent safety profile, demonstrated through toxicological and in vitro metabolism trials.
Is there any risk if the animal licks the product?
No, there is no risk, as the product is quickly metabolized upon contact with biological fluids.
Does it cause any effects or reactions?
No, the product does not cause any effects or reactions upon application.
Is it sold online?
Vetilea Travaderm is sold online to the end customer only and exclusively on vetilea.com with a veterinarian’s recommendation.
