Vetilea Enteric is a complementary food for dogs to help with gastrointestinal imbalances, especially in cases of intestinal flora alterations.
It contains a combination of pectin, Enterococcus Faecium, and tributyrin, providing a triple action: prebiotic, probiotic, and postbiotic.
Vetilea Enteric comes in sachets with palatable powder to mix with food. Each box contains 15 sachets.
HOW IT WORKS
Pectin is a soluble fiber that acts as a prebiotic. It is highly fermentable and also works as a stool bulkifier. Enterococcus faecium acts as a probiotic, stabilizing the intestinal flora. Tributyrin (tri- and di-glycerides of butyric acid) is a postbiotic that helps maintain balance in the intestinal cells.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Administer one sachet once a day, well mixed with food.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does Enterococcus Faecium work?
It is a natural component of the intestinal microbiota that contains encapsulated viable live cells. It is a probiotic that helps reduce intestinal permeability, increases mucus secretion, boosts defensin production, synthesizes short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), and stimulates the immune system. Significant improvement in stool quality has been shown after administering this strain. Additionally, this probiotic has EFSA-approved claims as a stabilizer of intestinal flora in dogs and cats.
How does pectin work?
Citrus pectin is a highly soluble fiber that is not digestible by the enzymes of intestinal cells. However, it is highly and rapidly fermentable by the microbiota. The presence of pectin increases microbiota diversity. As the microbiota metabolizes pectin, it produces SCFA (acetate, propionate, and butyrate). Additionally, pectin works as a stool-bulkifying agent.
How does tributyrin work?
Tributyrin is a stabilized form of butyrate. Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) that is preferentially used by enterocytes (intestinal cells) as an energy source. It stimulates their growth and differentiation and improves barrier function. It also helps repair the mucosa after injury and prevents the growth of harmful bacteria due to its low pH.
Can it be given with food?
Yes, the daily dose should be mixed with food, whether dry or wet.
Can it be given with medications?
It can be given with medications, but it is preferable to space the two doses. If antibiotics are being taken, it is recommended to administer Vetilea Enteric about 3 hours after the antibiotic.
How long should Vetilea Enteric be used?
The duration can range from 7 days to a month depending on the cause of dysbiosis and according to the veterinarian's recommendation.
Can it be given to pregnant females?
Its use has not been tested on pregnant females, so its administration is not recommended.
Does it contain a binder?
Pectin acts both as a prebiotic and as a stool bulkifier.
Can it be used as a preventive supplement?
Yes, Vetilea Enteric can be used to prevent digestive issues, such as when changing diets or in situations of stress (e.g., travel, etc.).
